Healthy "T"
I firmly believe a great part of a confident person is their smile. Someone who is not afraid to smile often leaves a better impression on a person than a person who doesn't. But with a confident smile comes those pearly whites that are inside! I get many compliments on my smile & teeth but what people don't know is my secret to keeping my teeth white and my gums healthy. After learning many years ago about Fluoride and how its a CANCER CAUSING chemical that's in our toothpaste and water supply, since i can't do anything about the water supply, I decided to switch my toothpaste to...COCONUT OIL. Yeah that's right! Some people would be shocked that coconut oil kills bacteria in your mouth at a much higher rate than those off the shelf toothpaste brands and its non toxic because it is natural. Not only that it better prevents cavities and gum disease. Wouldn't it be awesome to go to the dentist and NOT HAVE CAVITIES? Uh Yeah! EVERY MORNING & NIGHT I take a nice amount of the oil and put it on my toothbrush and brush (I floss after of course)! I think its so important for people to start being aware of what they put in their bodies and try their hardest to make those great changes in the right direction. Hope this opens someone's eyes. XOXO

The Black Emmy's
women established but went home with some astounding wins. First Viola Davis has the whole world in the palm of her hand with the phenomenal speech she gave. "In my mind, I see a line. And over that line, I see green fields and lovely flowers and beautiful white women with their arms stretched out to me, over that line. But I can’t seem to get there no how. I can’t seem to get over that line.’ That was Harriet Tubman in the 1800s. And let me tell you something: The only thing that separates women of color from anyone else is opportunity.
You cannot win an Emmy for roles that are simply not there. So here’s to all the writers, the awesome people that are Ben Sherwood, Paul Lee, Peter Nowalk, Shonda Rhimes, people who have redefined what it means to be beautiful, to be sexy, to be a leading woman, to be black. And to the Taraji P. Hensons, the Kerry Washingtons, the Halle Berrys, the Nicole Beharies, the Meagan Goods, to Gabrielle Union: Thank you for taking us over that line. Thank you to the Television Academy. Thank you." Every time I re-watch her speech i can't help but get chills, not only because she is the FIRST AFRICAN AMERICAN woman to win an EMMY for BEST ACTRESS IN A DRAMA , but simply because this moment is the greatest example of black progression. She did not keep the moment for herself, she shared it with her fellow sisters sitting in the audience and at home watching. She is filled with so much love, and compassion, and you can tell her words came from a place of love. Nothing but words of purity and genuine language. LOVE HER! Second is the ever so awesome Regina King winning her FIRST EMMY, SUPPORTING ACTRESS, LIMITED SERIES OR MOVIE. This was a beautiful moment because I remember meeting her in a clothing store and asking her if she had any advice for a young actress (me) and she stated " Keep going, you are going to hear no more than you hear yes, but you have to keep doing it" & Ms. Regina, you got your yes in this department and you will receive many more! Such an inspiration. Then we have winner of OUTSTANDING SUPPORTING ACTRESS IN A DRAMA SERIES , Uzo Aduba from Orange is the New Black. This is her second consecutive year winning an Emmy. My oh my she greatly deserves it. She thanked many for believing in her and giving her the opportunity to share her gift with the world. Its so beautiful to watch all of these sisters have their moment and be the shoulders for those of us coming after them to stand on. Its great to see we are making progress and moving toward being what I know our culture is made of. Greatness.
